Rhoda Oyler Welling, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton. Rhoda was born April 27, 1919 in East Garland, daughter of Joseph and Mabel Oyler. She was educated in East Garland and Garland and graduated from Bear River High School. She married Gale Welling in the Salt Lake Temple Sept. 20, 1939. They were blessed with four children. He passed away in June of 2007. She worked beside her husband in the fields helping to build the family farm. She loved to drive the grain trucks and swath hay and was a great support to her husband. She has worked in the 4-H and most organizations in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Presidency of M.I.A., Guide Scout leader for 18 years and received the Award of Merit, Primary and Sunday School teacher, Ward Sports Director, Assistant Stake Sports director, and Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She had a great love of music and sang in many groups and choirs throughout her life. She has lived all her life in East Garland and Fielding and served on Fielding’s Town Board. Rhoda has loved and participated in most sports excelling in softball and bowling. She is survived by her four children, Tamra (Kay) Asay, Logan; LeRoy (Anne) Welling, Steven (Allyson) Welling, Fielding; Debbie (Bill) Overall, Prineville, Oregon. She is the grandmother of 22 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren and a sister, Verna Hyde of Salt Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Howard and Sherman and her sisters Lucille and Lois. A viewing will be held at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home 111 North 100 East in Tremonton on Sunday, August 26 from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be on Monday, August 27 at 11:00 am in the Fielding Stake Center, 4400 West 15600 North, Fielding. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:30 am. The family expresses their deep appreciation for the love and care provided by the staff of the Bear River Valley Care Center and also to IHC Home Health Care and Primrose Home Care.
