Robert Francis Thayer

Robert was born on May 20, 1930 in Los Angeles, California moved to Bothwell, Utah in 1982. During World War II, he worked at Lockheed Aircraft Company. He married Berna Altamarie Kays of North Hollywood, California in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 10, 1979. Their home was in North Hollywood.

Bob served during the Korean War in the Air Force at Langley Air Force Base and Shaw Air Force Base and received an honorable discharge in 1940.

In California, he enjoyed water skiing and took up snow skiing while in University in Colorado.

In 1982, Bob accepted a job as an aerospace engineer at Thiokol and moved the family to Bothwell, Utah. He enjoyed fishing in several Utah rivers and streams with Alta and his son. For many years, he enjoyed bowling and pool at the local bowling alley. He enjoyed caring for the animals in his new rural environment.

He was preceded in death by his wife Berna (Alta) in 2003 and sister Shirley in 2006. He is survived by his son Robert Thayer, daughter-in-law Michelle Thayer, and granddaughter Korra Thayer of Omaha, NE.

Robert, age 93, died at the Ogden Regional Medical Center of cardiac arrest due to COVID complications on Monday, January 22, 2024. Per his wishes, he will be cremated. Interment will be at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma, California.  

His memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 6 P.M. with a visitation held prior from 5-5:45 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N. 100 E, Tremonton, UT 84337). No flowers, please. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.
