On the evening of October 11, 2015 Robert Gerald Weir returned to his Heavenly home after a four year battle while being tenderly cared for by his devoted wife - Carol, Cari Courtney, Parker, the entire hospice crew; Jason, Misty and Mary and the familiar staff at Bear River Rehabilitation Center in Tremonton, Utah. Robert was 74 years old.
Robert Weir was born in the town of Santa Monica, California on July 9th, 1941. He was the youngest of four children born to Robert Howie Weir and Westa Peterson Weir. His brothers were West and Allen and his sister was Ilene Lusier.
Robert enjoyed people and was a talented salesman. He enjoyed his work and helping as many people as he could along the way.
He took joy in creating fun and beautiful ceramics pieces, as his home can attest to that, camping with Carol and his family was a great love of his also. Robert enjoyed a good read with one of his favorite authors being Louis L’amore. Bonfires, picnics, swimming, a good laugh and joking around to put a smile on someone’s face gave him delight. When asked recently what she liked about her grandpa, one of his granddaughters said, “He was fun to be around. I loved going camping with him.”
There’s nothing he enjoyed more than sitting in church by his Sweetheart and being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Robert served in many capacities throughout his life; Gospel Doctrine teacher, Executive Secretary to the Bishop, Librarian, High Priests Group Leader among the many.
Robert was the last one in his family to die as he was preceded in death by his father Robert, his mother Westa, his brothers West and Allen and his sister Ilene.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol Weir, his lovely daughter Kim and 3 sons; Rick, Stephen, and Douglas and many loved ones – nephews, nieces, dear friends and business associates.
Robert felt a part of Deweyville and loved the people here. Thank you for making him and his sweet wife feel at home and comfortable. The list is long who have made this happen. Pretty much if you know Robert and Carol, you’re on that list. Thank you. And his parting words would be, “You’ll come back now, you hear!”
A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 9940 North Highway 38 Deweyville, UT 84309 on October 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, flowers and donations can be sent to their home at 11255 North 3750 West Deweyville, Utah 84309, 435-257-3928 or email jeff.b.payne@gmail.com
