Roger Brown

March 11, 1944 — March 26, 2017

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend passed away March 26, 2017 in Goodyear, Arizona. The state he loved as his second home.

Roger was born March 11, 1944 in Walshville, Illinois. He was the younger of two children born to Kenneth and Reathel Pendley Brown. He loved his boyhood home but at a young age his family pulled up stakes and moved him to Ogden, Utah. He never forgot Walshville and was very fond of reminiscing about all his adventures and friends there.

He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State University. He and a boyhood friend joined the Army on the buddy system and had many adventures he talked about often.

In 1958, he married Glenna Vicklund. They later divorced. To that union was born a wonderful son, Lane Brown. On December 24, 1979, he married Janet Shaw and inherited four stepchildren: Christy, Mike, Alan and Denene. He loved his stepchildren and grandchildren as his own.

Roger was very talented he could build or repair anything. We bought many homes and remodeled them to sale. He was always remodeling our home and everyone marveled at his talent. He retired from Thiokol, after working there in construction services for 20 years, we bought a fifth wheel trailer and headed for the Arizona sun. Four years later, we sold that and bought a modular home in Bouse, Arizona. We have spent six months of each year there for the last 10 years and have made many friends that we count as the family away from home.

Roger is survived by his wife, Janet Brown of Brigham City; his son, Lane (Trisha) Brown of Clinton; his stepchildren, Christy Bingham, Mike Riser of Ogden, Alan (Larraine) Riser of Corinne, and Denene Peterson of Cumming, Georgia and a sister, Marie Wahlquist of Ogden. He is also survived by a step grandchild (he raised as his own) Cody Riser; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. His parents and a great grandchild Farah Richardson preceded him in death.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9- 10:30 a.m. the funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held at the Brigham City LDS Chapel (236 East 100 South, Brigham City, Utah 84302).
