Roger Newman

Roger Lee Newman, 65, passed away on November 24, 2017, in Bothwell, Utah. He was born on June 30, 1952, in Ogden, Utah to Mick and Wanda Newman. He was raised in Bothwell and continued to live there his whole life.

He attended and graduated from Bear River High School in 1970. He attended Utah State College, where he earned his Horse Shoeing certificate. He married his sweetheart, Judy Macfarlane on April 15, 1971, in the Logan LDS Temple.

Roger was raised on the family farm and continued to work with his brother, Doug Newman. He retired from full-time farming in the winter of 2014-2015. He then worked for Box Elder County Fairgrounds and helping anyone that needed his help.

He loved to play softball, He enjoyed training horses and started racing chariots in 1976. Later in life, he loved to go on RZR rides in Arizona. More than anything he loved being with his family.

Roger is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many church callings including, Ward Clerk, Sunday School Presidency, Ward Young Single Adult Leader, and most recently a two-year missionary at Petersen Park.

Roger is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Shane (Angie) Newman, Jamie (Sid) Talbot, Jeremiah (Stacey) Newman, Wanda (Chad) Coombs; siblings, LaWana Roberts, Darrell Newman, and Steve Newman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mick & Wanda Newman; siblings, Lyle Newman, Doug Newman; nephew, Scott Newman; and father-in-law, Ferris A Macfarlane.

Funeral services for Roger will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bothwell LDS Chapel (10350 W. 11600 N., Bothwell, UT). Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, November 28, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, UT) and at the church prior to the funeral service from 9-10:30 a.m. Interment in the Valley View (Bothwell) Cemetery.
