Roger LaVor Rose passed away December 7, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born June 7, 1949 to Beverly Austin and LaVor D. Rose. He grew up in Tremonton, Utah. He attended Bear River High School. He married Jean Peterson. They later divorced. He was “DAD” to two wonderful daughters, Misty and Adrena. He was a volunteer fireman with the Garland Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a creative handy man. He loved to go fishing. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, 101st. Airborne Division and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He worked as a Peer Support Specialist, as a member of the Salt Lake City VA Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHCIM) team providing support to fellow veterans. His dedication to fellow veterans provided support, encouragement and understanding in a quiet and compassionate manner that was uniquely his. He was a true friend and mentor to both staff and fellow veterans. Roger’s passing leaves behind a void that will be difficult to fill and many veterans who are grateful he was part of their journey to healing. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kirk. He is survived by his daughters, Misty and Adrena , sister Julie Ann Larson (Jim), brothers Mont (Cheryl) and Greg, “Moe” (Julie) and half- brother, Ferrin as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday , December 12, 2012, at the Rogers and Taylor funeral home 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah. Friends and family may call from 11:00 am. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow at the Hyrum City cemetery in Hyrum, Utah.
