Roma Jean Hill Bourne, 85, passed away at her home in East Garland, UT surrounded by family on March 10, 2015.
She was born at home in East Tremonton on June 21, 1929, the first of six children born to Seymour William and Lydia Andrea Romer Hill. She attended McKinley Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School and LDS Seminary. She served as Senior Class Vice President with John A Bourne as Senior Class President. The high school sweethearts were married on September 3, 1947 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were happily married for 63 years and blessed with six children.
Roma was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was the happiest while serving others. She was a custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 16 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in all organizations including Scouting. For 11 wonderful years she and John A served as directors of the Baptistery in the Logan LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, handiwork, family history, spending time with her family, visiting friends, and humanitarian projects. She made thousands of bears which have been distributed around the world. She always kept a beautiful flower garden and yard. She is eternally loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are sons: Alan H (Doylene), Kevin W (Jill); Daughters: Sandra (Robert) Orme, Brenda (Alan) Godfrey, Gloria (Andy) Hunter and daughter-in-law Dianne Scalley; 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Sisters: Lola Coombs, Beverly (Odean) Estep, Brothers Blaine (Charlene) Hill and Bernard (LaPrele) Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Shanna, oldest son John Nolan and brother-in-law Keith Coombs.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful professionals of Primrose Hospice for their exceptional care of Roma.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Fielding Stake Center, 4375 West 15600 North, Fielding. A viewing will be held Friday March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11:30 at the church. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
