RORY BRENT MITCHELL Born in Brigham City, UT Oct 2, 1996, passed away in Garland, UT Jan 2, 2013. Our beautiful, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend stepped outside this vale of tears and has returned home to our Heavenly Father. Rory is one of those kind and tenderhearted spirits that ever sought to be friendly and helpful to those around him. Much of his enjoyment came through the activities that interested him and the camaraderie of teammates and friends in track, band, FFA and the Boy Scouts. His quiet support and encouragement, strength and determination has touched and made better many lives in our small community. Some of the simple pleasures he enjoyed and formative influences on his character and sense of humor are Calvin and Hobbes, Charlie Brown and the Far Side comic strips. Rory read to feed his imagination and has a great love for his family history and curiosity about his ancestors and desire to meet them. Agriculture became a large part of his efforts, goals and time. County fair lamb projects, plans of someday running his own ranch and learning all he could about farming have grown to occupy much of his attention. One source of Rory's greatness of soul is the faith that has been handed down through the generations of his family. Trips, reunions, camping and visits served to knit those hearts into a powerful motivator and touchstone that kept him grounded, yet inspired limitless aspirations. Rory is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has a quiet but powerful testimony of the Gospel and he constantly strove to improve himself and at the same time, lift those around him. His deep desire and plans to serve a mission, temple marriage and eternal family have been delayed, but they continue to be a large part of who he is. His time among us has been entirely too brief, and Rory's impact on us is immense and so he is greatly missed by all who know and love him. He is survived by saddened yet proud and grateful parents, Jon and Ann Mitchell, brother Samuel, sisters Abbie and Gillian, grandparents Les and Rose Mitchell, MarJean Campbell, Brent and Linda Morrill, Donna Morrill, extended family and innumerable friends, teachers and leaders. He has been met on the other side of the veil by great-grandparents Alexander and Dorothy Mitchell, Reed and Helen Hayes, Garth and Rebecca Morrill, Ed and Melba Dillon. Please join us in attending the services to be held to honor this outstanding young man Wednesday January 9th at 11 am. There will be a viewing Tuesday January 8th from 6-8 pm and 9-10:30 Wednesday at the Belmont Ward LDS Chapel 16925 N 5200 W Riverside, UT. Interment immediately after at the Plymouth Cemetery. We, Rory's family, are grateful for the outpouring of the love and support of friends and neighbors and wish to thank Rudd Funeral Home for their service and assistance in this very difficult time.
