Rosalie Mason

April 22, 1938 — December 24, 2014

Rosalie Carlson Mason, Tremonton - St. George, UT 76, passed away on December 24, 2014 in Deweyville, Utah. Her physical death was caused by acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Rosalie was the sixteenth child born to Francis Oscar Carlson and Hazel Luella Checketts Carlson, on April 22, 1938. She was raised in Cleveland, Utah and attended Emery County Schools. She enjoyed being part of a big, loving family. She met the love of her life, Max L. Mason, while working for Detroit Diesel. They were married in 1967 and made their home in Tremonton. Max and Rosalie were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on April 24, 1970.

Rosalie was a wonderful wife and devoted mother. She volunteered as PTA President and enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts. She took excellent care of her family and friends. Her children loved her homemade chicken noodle soup, her family Christmas parties, her loving attention to the details of their lives and her pleasant and calm presence. She loved working in the yard and enjoyed a caramel sundae with lots of caramel and a dab of ice cream. She adored being a Grandma/Nana Rose to her grandchildren. Her family is grateful for her lifetime of service and love.

She was a faithful, valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was called an Elect Lady by many who knew her. She strived to live her life in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ, and sought to serve her family, friends and neighbors with selfless love. She accepted many church callings: Ward Relief Society President, Ward and Stake Primary President, Young Women Advisor and Visiting Teacher. She served a public affairs mission with her husband in the Central States and Canada.

The greatest loves of her life were her family and her love for her Savior. As much as she loved
her family and friends, those of us left behind, love her even more. We will miss her laugh, smiles and hugs. However, we know we will be reunited with her again.

Rosalie is survived by four children: Keith (Lesley) Kendrick, Deweyville; Kathy Kendrick, Sandy; Marcea (Shane) Brough, Layton; Jacqueline (Wade) Harris, Caldwell, Idaho; 12 grandchildren: Ian, Brad, Danielle, Lindsay, Carrie, Cindy, Rick, Jessica, Whitney, Stephen, Kayli and Mason; 7 great grandchildren: Kaden, Kali, Landon, Joshua, Lincoln, Miya and Callen; One brother: Gene (Janis) Carlson, Helper, Utah; three sisters: Joyce Carlson, St. George; Barbara Halverson, Sandy; Colleen Byrge, Price.

She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Max; her parents; a step-son, Mark; granddaughter, Alisa; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Mom requested a private family funeral service which was held in the Deweyville Ward Chapel. She was buried next to her soul mate in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. Our family would like to thank Dr. Paul Shami and his staff and the many doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Center for their excellent care. Our family would also like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice Care especially Mackenzie and Lauren for their loving care. Our family suggests donations be made to the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rosalie's honor.
