Ruth Elmira (Laney) Huggins

Ruth Elmira Laney Huggins, age 84, passed away on October 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 11, 1939 in Springville, Utah, to Elwood Eugene and Fay Pamela Jensen Laney. She grew up in Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School. 

She married Max C. Huggins and together they had four boys, Max K, Steven C, Travis J, and Jason D. They later divorced. She worked for Thiokol, retiring after 30 years. She later moved to Malad, Idaho, where she worked as a volunteer EMT for several years. She had a passion for helping others and was always looking for someone in need.

Mom loved the outdoors. Some of her fondest memories were taking her sons deer hunting each year. She also loved cooking in dutch ovens and entering her recipes in dutch oven cookoffs. She loved fishing, camping, hunting, reading, and most of all spending time with her family.

She was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several callings.

She is survived by her children, Max K. (Sheila) Huggins, Steven C. (Pauline) Huggins, Travis (Susan) Huggins, and Jason (Janilyn) Huggins; and 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Fay Laney; her siblings, George E. Laney and Judy Neese. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Pauline Huggins; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Rudd Funeral Home-Tremonton (111 N 100 E, Tremonton) and a private graveside service for family on Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Portage, Utah.
