Sharyn Stephens

May 29, 1936 — July 20, 2017

Sharyn Cecilia Stephens of Bear River City, Utah passed away July 20, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born May 29, 1936 in Park City, Utah. The youngest daughter of Albert Isaac Carter and Cecilia Margaret Kearns.

She attended schools in Park City, Utah. While in high school she played the bells in the high school marching band. She always reminisced about traveling to California to play in the Rose Bowl Parade.

She met and married Clyde Johnson and they later divorced.

She was employed and worked many years as a secretary at Hill Air Force Base, where she met the love of her life, Harold Jay Stephens. They were married in 1977 and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. While married to Jay, she also worked for the Davis County School District, from where she retired.

Sharyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. Sharyn and Jay worked in the Ogden Temple for 2 years. They also served a mission in the Newfoundland for 18 months.

She loved playing the piano for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers which she was a member of. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed having her family over, especially on holidays. She loved playing the card game Hand and Foot with many of their friends. They loved spending time in Star Valley, Wyoming in the summer and Littlefield, Arizona in the winter.

She is survived by her children: Gregg (Joyce) Johnson, Derek (Dusty) Johnson, Tracey DiEsposti, Gail Lind, Randy (Jan) Stephens, and Wendy True; 21 grandchildren; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 3 sisters: Margaret, Norma, Helen and 1 grandson: Casey Stephens.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM with a viewing prior from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Bear River City Church (5870 N. 4700 W.) Friends and family may visit Friday, July 28, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Rudd Funeral Home (1234 S. Main – Garland, UT)
