Stacey Liechty

November 29, 1949 — February 15, 2024

Tremonton

Stacey Lee Liechty 74, was welcomed home into the arms of our Heavenly Father on February 15, 2024 in Ogden, Utah after an amazing and well fought  battle with various cancers. He was born in Logan Utah on November 29, 1949 to Milton Liechty and Dottie Lamont Liechty.  He was their first child and the first grandchild of grandparents DeVere and Nora LaMont, a special relationship that would carry on throughout his life.

Stacey's first years of school were at Adams Elementary in Logan.  Soon after the family moved to Providence and attended Providence Elementary. He then attended South Cache Junior High and graduated from Sky View High School in 1968. Later in life he went back and furthered his education at BATC and received a degree in Auto-cad Drafting. This was a perfect fit because Stacey had a natural gift of drawing and handwriting. He was a self-taught mechanic and could repair anything. He took second place at a Nationwide Chrysler Automotive Trouble Shooting contest, which he was always proud of. He never lost his love of cars and motorcycles. He spent many weekends in Idaho working on projects; his own or anyone that needed help with theirs. Once he had an idea he would never give up on it regardless of what it took.

He married Sherryil Dahle in August of 1969 and to their marriage came their three children Jodi, Dawn and Dustin. The couple later divorced.

Stacey overcame many obstacles in his life, born with a double cleft palate; he endured eighteen surgeries before turning 18. He battled cancer many times. His battle started when he was 55 with esophageal cancer. In 2020, he had most of one lung removed due to lung cancer. He remained very positive through all of this. He continued to work and never complained. In 2023, due to other complications developing it was decided to remove the remainder of his lung. This led to many surgeries and an extended period of time in rehab. Stacey was finally able to move back home and regain his independence in September. His last battle with a new found cancer was met with a very valiant fight again. He never quit and kept a positive outlook throughout his life.

At the age of 61, he made the choice to be reactivated in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This return to the church prepared him to receive his endowments in the temple in 2011. He enjoyed callings from the church; especially the special calling of primary teacher. Stacey was always sharing stories about the children in his primary classes to family. This decision created yet another way for him to add to his already long list of people he called friends.

Stacey worked at many trades, always perfecting them.  He went from dishwasher to a cook at Tally Ho Café, worked as a mechanic for Bundy Motor and Cook Transportation and finally he learned the trade of Transmission Repair at Gordon Transmission. Stacey worked as a heavy equipment operator for J. R. Simplot and Rupp Construction. He bought a truck and went to long haul trucking until hurting a knee and was forced to do something different. He was a millwright for ABC at The Nucor Plant in Plymouth for many years. He found his dream job later in life as the assistant head custodian at Alice C Harris Intermediate  School in Tremonton.   He loved being around all the kids and faculty. They showered him with love throughout his illness.  This would always bring a large smile to his face.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Devere and Nora LaMont, Walter and Hilda Liechty, father Milton Walter, and his mother Dottie Harris.

He is survived by his children; Jodi (Lonnie) Mangum of Hyrum, Utah, Dawn (Devin) Galloway of Hyrum, Utah and Dustin (Lisa) Liechty of Paradise, Utah. Grandchildren, Tylyn (Trevor) Steinmetz, Kolter (Mady) Mangum, Cambree (Bryce) Flammer, Mayson and Tate Galloway, Justus, Shaye, and Sawyer Liechty. Great grandchildren Ryleigh and Knoxen Steinmetz. Brothers JR (Gayle) Liechty of Soda Springs, Idaho, Mark ( Coralee) Liechty of Soda Springs, Idaho, Dean (Kerry) Harris of Mendon, Utah, sister Kris and (Earl) Coffman of Pocatello, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews.
