TREMONTON- Steven Frank Chadaz, a ‘Journey of Life and Love’, passed away surrounded by family early the morning of July 4, 2014 in Ogden, UT. He was the 4th of 5 children born on January 30, 1953 in Tremonton, Utah to Frank and Ada Chadaz.
He attended McKinley Elementary and then Bear River High School where he was on student council, a member of the Future Farmers of America, in the A Cappella Choir and played trombone with the Bear River High Lansirs.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New Zealand North Mission and then married the love of his life, Susan Ramsdell, on June 10, 1976 in the Logan Temple.
He graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and taught at River Heights Elementary School in Logan. After living in Hyrum, UT for 8 years he accepted a Human Resource position at Thiokol Corporation and moved his family to Tremonton, UT. He served as a member of the Tremonton City Council and on the board of Members First Credit Union. He earned a Masters in Counseling and then another Masters in School Administration and returned to teaching. He taught at Alice C. Harris where he also was a counselor, was Vice Principal at Bear River High School, Principal at Dale Young Community High in Brigham City, and finally returned to his beloved McKinley Elementary as Principal. He loved the children and teachers there; they made him smile.
He held many callings in the Church which included Bishop of Tremonton 8th ward and Executive Secretary for the Tremonton South Stake. His most recent callings were a temple worker at the Brigham City Temple and High Councilman for the Tremonton Stake.
He loved to work in the yard, play with his grandkids, talk and laugh with neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Larry (Vickie), and 2 twin grandchildren Ryanne & Tamarrah.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; 4 children Tarrah (Ryan), Tyson (Alyson), Torie (Matt), Tanner, 14 grandchildren; and siblings, Valene (Steve), Vance (Wilma), Brian (Monica).
His testimony, in his words, “As we joyfully use the map our loving Father has provided for our journey, it will lead us to holy places and we will rise to our greatest potential. I am thankful for the journeys I have encountered so far in my life. I have learned many things, sometimes the hard way but it has made me a better person. I have also learned through receiving and giving that I feel better about myself and I can see how others benefit from Christ’s love. I am so thankful for my life’s journey.”
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11am at the Garland Tabernacle, 140 W. Factory St., Garland, UT. Viewings will be held at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N 100 E, Tremonton, UT 84337 on Tuesday, July 8th from 6-8pm and Wednesday at Garland Tabernacle, from 9:00-10:30am.
