Thomas Glade “Jim” Anderson, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Bothwell, Utah, on April 15, 2025, due to age and complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
Jim was born at home on June 18, 1934, in Bothwell, Utah, to Lewis Eli Andersen and Hannah Ethelyn Summers Andersen. He was the third of four boys. When he was born, his older brother, who was two, started calling him “Jim” which is the name he would be known by all of his life.
Jim was a life-long resident of Bothwell. He had many loving memories of growing up in Bothwell. There were ward parties ice skating on the swamps, 24th of July celebrations at the park, ward baseball games and so many community gatherings where he could spend time talking with friends. He had so many wonderful friends and neighbors, Jim loved his community.
He began his education with kindergarten at the Thatcher Elementary School and then attended the Bothwell Elementary School and continued on to graduate from Bear River High School in 1952.
Jim married Donna Sarah Porter on July 3, 1958, in the Logan LDS Temple. They settled down in Bothwell where they raised three beautiful girls. Jim’s greatest love in life was his wife, daughters, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that came along.
Jim was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions including Bishop of the Bothwell Ward and High Councilman in the Tremonton Utah Stake. He was also called to be the Branch President of the assisted living branch in Tremonton. One of his favorite callings was cooking at Sons of Helaman for 10 years.
Throughout his life he made a living working at various jobs. He retired from Thiokol in 1992. In his retirement, he spent his days as the biggest supporter of DonBara Quilting where he wore many hats – sewing machine repairman, chauffer, and public relations officer.
Jim loved people and making them smile. For him, there was no such thing as a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t met yet. Anyone who got to work with him or had any connection with him came away a much better person.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Deverl “Bud” Anderson, Larry, “Poose” Anderson, and Blaine “Skip” Andersen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna, and daughters Loraine (Chris) Selman – Elwood, Utah; Tamara Sinclair – Hyde Park, Utah; and Kristy (Ken) Eliason – Holbrook, Idaho; his 12 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
