Thomas Carlyle Oman, 76, most recently of Montello, Nevada, passed away Sunday October 14, 2012 suddenly at his home. He was born on February 25, 1936 to Harold Oman and Sarah Blanche Loveland in Yost, Utah. He was the fourth of ten children where he was raised on the family farm. He attended primary school in Yost, Utah, and high school at Raft River High in Malta, Idaho. He joined the U.S. Navy in his late teens where he traveled throughout the Pacific visiting various locations. He loved to tell stories about his time in the service and was proud to serve his country. Upon discharge from the service, he started his own trucking business. He later worked for LeGrand Johnson Construction Company in Logan, Utah. He married Kayleen Campbell in 1963 and together they had four children. They spent most of their married life in Garland, Utah. He is survived by four children, Neal (Lisa) Oman, Issaquah, WA; Lisa (Richard) Austin, Downey, ID; Ronda (Lee) Falk, Zebulon, NC; Angela (Brent) Ashcroft, Smithfield, UT, and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gary Oman, and a sister Pamela Oman Burton. Dad had a delightful sense of humor and loved to give everyone a nickname. He loved to buy and sell cattle. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, riding horses in the mountains, and participating in rodeos in his younger days. He rode bareback and saddle bronc horses, bulls, along with team roping. He helped each of his children learn to ride horses and compete in rodeo and horse events as well. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Rogers & Taylor Mortuary Chapel located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, October 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Garland, Utah cemetery.
