TREMONTON – Tyler Jeffrey Nielsen, 31, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, surrounded by his family. Tyler was born May 29, 1980, to Jeffrey and Susan Summers Nielsen in Logan, Utah. He was raised in Bothwell and graduated from Bear River High School in 1998. He served an LDS mission to Kingston, Jamaica, from June 1999 to June 2001. Tyler always spoke fondly of serving the Jamaican people. Motivated by the fateful events of 9/11, Tyler joined the Utah Army National Guard near the end of 2001 and was assigned to the 115th maintenance company. His unit was deployed to Iraq from January 2005 to May 2006. As a skilled mechanic, Tyler’s main duty was repairing damaged vehicles and other equipment. A proud patriot and faithful soldier, Tyler considered his military service to be one of the greatest experiences of his life. Tyler married his sweetheart, Alicia Toone Nielsen, August 14, 2004, in the Logan LDS Temple. They had one daughter, TyAnne, in 2009. Tyler said his wedding and TyAnne’s birth were two of the happiest events of his life. “She will always be my precious princess,” he said. “My family is my greatest accomplishment.” Tyler was an avid sports fan. He was most loyal to the Utah Jazz, BYU, the San Francisco 49ers and the driver of NASCAR’s No. 88, Dale Earnhardt Jr. When he wasn’t holding the remote control, Tyler loved being outdoors. He was crazy about camping, riding 4-wheelers, and drinking Mountain Dew. He also cherished guns and proudly exercised his constitutional right to bear arms. Tyler is survived by his wife, Alicia, his daughter, TyAnne, grandmother LaNae Summers, parents Jeffrey and Susan Summers Nielsen, and four siblings, Jeremy (Nicole), David (Shamra), Mitchell (Katie), and Mattie. He is preceded in death by grandparents Jesse and June Nielsen, grandfather Farrell Summers, and Uncle Mike and Aunt Marge. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m., as well as Friday, March 23, 2012, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Tremonton West Stake Center,345 S. 1000 W, Tremonton. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Tremonton West Stake Center. Interment will be held at the Valley View Cemetery in Bothwell, UT with full military honors.
