Tyson Merrill Shupe

October 29, 1992 — March 23, 2025

Tyson Merrill Shupe, a man who touched the lives of so many, left his mortal journey on March 23rd, 2025, and was called home to his Heavenly Father. Born in Everett, Washington, to Chad B Shupe and Marcella Moss Shupe on October 29, 1992, Tyson grew up in Layton, Utah. There, he met and fell head over boots for his Sweetie Baby, Kylie Mikelle Maughan. Kylie took his name when they married in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on May 26, 2015.

To provide for his family, Tyson worked hard as an electrical journeyman. In 2018, Tyson became a partner in building Ferree Electric with his long-time mentor and friend, Sam Ferree. His tireless efforts helped the company become 2nd “Best of Northern Utah” in 2023, and in 2024, the company proudly received the title “Best of Northern Utah.”

Outside of his long workdays, Tyson lived for his softball team, dirt biking with his brothers, trips to the family cabin, and playing games with family. He beamed with pride when he wore his rec-league softball championship hoodie, which The Third Base Bullies secured in the 2024 season. He spent many hours on his dirt bike, riding trails near and far with his brothers, and he always looked forward to their annual spring dirt bike trip. Tyson found immense peace in Stanley, Idaho, at the family’s cabin, where he created countless memories for his loved ones to remember him by.

Tyson selflessly served The Lord for two years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after graduating from Northridge High School in 2011. Shortly after his return, he met the love of his life, Kylie. They spent a summer as an inseparable pair, then planned the spring wedding of Kylie’s dreams. The barn-yard ho-down that followed a picture-perfect ceremony was a night full of country swing dancing, laughter, and love. The couple’s first dance, a seemingly traditional love song at first, had everyone’s attention when the music transformed and the couple showed off their best country swing dance moves to “Ain’t Goin’ Down ‘Til the Sun Comes Up,” by Garth Brooks.

In September 2016, Tyson held Kylie’s hand as they welcomed their firstborn, Mavrik Ryan Shupe. By the spring of 2018, the small family settled in Honeyville, Utah where their hearts delighted in the sense of home. On February 14th, 2021, Tyson and Kylie welcomed their second son, Stetson Charles Shupe. As they welcomed Stetson to the world, there was so much love that the couple held to their inside joke: there was no need for Valentine’s Day gifts for at least 18 years.

Tyson is survived by his Sweetie, Kylie Mikelle Shupe, their two sons, Mavrik Ryan (8) and Stetson Charles (4); his parents, Chad B Shupe and Marcella Moss Shupe; his sisters, Deanne “Dede” Shupe Corrales and Josee Anne Shupe; his brothers, Blake Robert Shupe, Ryan Parley Shupe, and Robert Chad Shupe; his 3 nieces and 4 nephews; and many more whose life’s he touched.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Merrill “Doc” Shupe, whom he admired dearly and inspired him to endlessly encourage Kylie to pursue a career in veterinary medicine just as “Doc” had.
