Valaine Cornwall Austin Hunsaker, 91, of Tremonton, Utah passed away on April 29, 2012 of causes incident to age. Valaine was surrounded by her family. Valaine was born February 14, 1921 in Tremonton, Utah to Ernest Henry and Maggie May Miller Cornwall. She attended the first grade at the little “Union School”. She eventually graduated from the Garland LDS Seminary and Bear River High School in 1939. She then began working for the Bear River Valley Telephone Company. In 1941 she married Keith Howard Austin in the Logan LDS Temple. In 1944 she and Keith started raising turkeys and made their home south of Tremonton on the Iowa String Road. In 1963 Valaine worked at Thiokol for a short time; later she worked for Gephart’s Department Store where she was employed for 13 years. In 1980 her husband Keith passed away. In 1989 she married Reginald Hunsaker and they made their home in Elwood, UT and Raft River, ID. Reginald died in November of 2000. Valaine has spent countless hours in church and community service. She served as Relief Society President, Relief Society Stake Board member, Stake Missionary and as a temple worker in the Logan Temple. She was a pink lady at the Bear River Valley Hospital until just a few months ago. She was also a member of the Civic Club, the JFF Club and Captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She inherited a pioneer work ethic from her ancestors. Valaine loved to keep a nice yard and always enjoyed entertaining and visiting with those who came to her home. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting and playing cards with friends and family. She was devoted to her family…daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Valaine spent her entire life in the Bear River Valley and loved it with all of her heart. She will be missed by her loving daughters: Sandra Larsen, Kathy (Tony) Aragon, Becky (Ross) Catron, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Keith Howard Austin and Reginald Hunsaker, her parents, 7 brothers and sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter. A special thanks to her caregivers from Primrose Healthcare in Tremonton and Hospice of Utah in Ogden. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3 at 1:00 PM at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah. A viewing will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton, Utah.
