Vaughn Tingey

May 5, 1931 — April 28, 2012

Vaughn Streator Tingey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 28, 2012, after a short battle with Cancer. Vaughn was born in Tremonton, Utah on May 5, 1931 to Lillian Capener and Henry Streator Tingey. He came into this world as the younger brother of Luana. He lived in Riverside Utah as a youth graduating from Bear River High School. He served in the US Navy on the USS Benham as Yeoman 3rd Class from 1950 to 1954. Upon returning he attended Utah State University and Stevens Henager College, majoring in Business. He married Doris Singleton on June 20, 1956. He and Doris had a wonderful loving friendship, which lasted 54 years. They had a strong relationship helping each other raise four children. Vaughn was a loving and generous father who worked very hard to ensure his children and grandchildren did not want for anything. He was supportive beyond measure and was always right there for all of them. His love for wheat, flour and baking took him on a long prosperous career path, which lasted over 40 years and several corporate buy-outs. He also baked (at night), for Dicks Market to hone his craft. He held the distinction of being a Grain Chemist and Journeyman Baker. His passion for his work and devotion to his clients forged lasting family-like relationships. Everyone who met him became an instant friend, and his dry wit will be remembered by all who knew him. He was an AVID Jazz fan. He loved gardening and could not drive past a nursery without buying a plant, or 20. He was very artistic and created a few painted masterpieces. His lifelong hobbies were stamp and coin collecting. But, his very favorite past time was to spend time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He is survived by his daughter, VondaKay (Tony); daughter, Bonnie Jo; son, Blair (Leesa), and daughter, Suzanne (Dave); 16 grandchildren; six and a half great-grandchildren; sister Luana Andersen (Darwin), cherished nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Roxy. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, wife and grandson. The Tingey family wishes to acknowledge the expert care given by Dr. Val Hansen, Dr. Scott West and most recently by Dr. Regina Klein, with special thanks to Kristy Burnett and staff at Access Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 3rd at Belmont 2nd Ward, 16925 N 5200 W in Riverside Utah. Friends and family may call Wednesday May 2nd from 6:00 until 7:30 pm, at Rudd Funeral Home, 1234 South Main Garland UT, and prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the chapel. Interment to Plain City Cemetery.
