Vergie Nelson Anderson, An angel disguised in human form, returned to her heavenly home Friday June 21, 2013. As was always her wish she was able to pass peacefully in her own home with her son, Stephen and daughter, Vergalee each holding one of her hands, present also was a dear family friend, Ron Burgess
Vergie was born April 14, 1921 in Redmond, Utah to Charles Elmer Nelson and Margaret Kate Nelson. She was the 4th of 7 children; Tilman, Melva, Lyal, then Vergie, Dee Lora, Lora Dee, and Dawn. Vergie married Leedrow Christian Anderson on November 22, 1940, in the Manti Temple.
Vergie spent her childhood in Redmond, Utah. Graduating from North Sevier High school, where she excelled in Drama and writing.
She moved a short distance away to Mayfield, Utah when she married Leedrow. While in Mayfield she held many positions in the L.D.S. church. She was active in the Mutual and Young Women’s programs, also Relief Society President for many years. She remained an active member throughout her life.
She relocated to Garland, Utah in 1960 when Leedrow was transferred by the U & I Sugar company. This was to remain her home until her death. Spending most winters for the last 9 years in Mesquite, Nevada with her Sister and Brother in Law, Dawn and Bryan Hafen. Where she also has many friends, 130 of which attended her 90th Birthday party.
Vergie arrived in life with a special mission, To love and be loved by all. This she accomplished to its fullest degree.
She was a prolific reader, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and many friends.
Vergie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leedrow; one son, Charles Lee Anderson; her brother, Tilman; and sisters, Melva, Lyal and Dee Lora.
Vergie is survived by her son, Stephen C. Anderson and wife Lynnette, their 3 children, Melody, Amber, and Chris. Daughter, Pam and husband Roger Smith, their 3 children, Alex, Adam, and Amanda. And Daughter, Vergalee Anderson. Six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one on the way
She blessed everyone whose life she touched and will be Greatly missed.
Services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E. Tremonton. There will be viewings Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday Prior to services from 9:30 -10:30 a.m., both at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home.
