God saw you were getting tired so he put his arms around you, and whispered “Come with me”. Verna Larsen Geddes, our mother, grandmother and great grandmother left this life peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Verna was born on February 3, 1919 in Logan to John A and Ethel Clark Larsen. She grew up in Logan attending Logan City schools. At the age of 10 she started taking dancing lessons, performing tap, ballet and acrobatics. Dance soon became her first love. During her high school years, Verna belonged to the ROTC Sponsor Corp. She graduated from Logan High School in 1937. Verna married Grant Geddes in 1937. Together they resided in Logan for most of their married life. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Grant and Verna were married 67 years. Verna served in the Primary, MIA, and Relief Society organizations in the LDS church. She and Grant were stake dance directors in the Mt. Logan Stake. She was an active member of the Logan Golf and Country Club for 47 years, where she served 1 year as Ladies Auxiliary President. Verna was also an avid bridge player belonging to many clubs in the valley. Verna was very proud of her family and their accomplishments. Her children are: Kae (Don) Babinchak, South Jordan; Jenell Hansen, Idaho Falls, ID; Gordon ( Kathryn) Geddes, River Heights; Renae (Brent) Hatch, Chandler, AZ; Ethel Ann Buttars, Garland; Reid (Lori) Geddes, Pocatello, ID. Sisters are Lois Concannon, Washington, Thelda Fife, Smithfield, also, 26 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Family members who preceded her in death are her husband Grant, her parents, and brother John Eldon Larsen. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday March 4, 2011 at the North Logan 6th Ward Chapel, 2540 North 400 East. A viewing will be held from 10 am to 11:45 am before the services.
