Vincent Buttars

Vincent Buttars passed away on October 10, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born March 5, 1918 in Clarkston, Utah. Vincent was the son of Jesse Tanner and Ellen Dahle Buttars. He married Della Palmer October 11, 1941 in Preston, ID. Later on March 10, 1961 they were sealed in the Logan Temple. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Army during WWII. He was in the field artillery at the Battle of the Bulge, and honorably discharged in 1945. He received his education from North Cache High School and later Utah State University in the mechanics program. On Oct 10th Vince graduated from the school of hard knocks. He was involved in farming and large equipment. He owned Buttars Service and later founded Buttars Tractor, Inc. which he operated until he retired in 1981. This was a family business which included his wife, all his children, and other family members giving them the unique opportunity to work close together and enjoy each other. Friends were very important to Vincent, his wife and he spent several years with them in St. George during the winter months. The rest of the year was spent with his family in the Cache Valley. He and his wife would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 11, 2011. Vincent is survived by his Wife, Della Palmer Buttars; son, Monte Vincent (Suzanne Larsen) Buttars: Kennewick, Washington; son, Darrell J. (Marianne Funk) Buttars: Layton, Utah; son, Richard Cleve (Debra J. Shaw) Buttars: Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter, Bonnie Jean (David Richard) Monson: Layton, Utah; son, Robert Palmer (Leann Purser) Buttars: Deweyville, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and sister, Reva Buttars (Maurice) Blau. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Hazel Rose; brothers, Jay and Berdean Buttars; son, Rodney Lee Buttars (July 15, 1967), and daughter, Paulette Bryan (Nov. 1, 2002). A viewing will be held, Friday October 14, 2011 from 6-8:00 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home located at 162 East 400 North Logan, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 15, at 1:00 pm with a viewing prior from 11:30-12:30 at the Logan 12th Ward Chapel located at 2540 North 400 East in North Logan. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
