Garland, UT - Wayne E Grover returned to his Heavenly Father and loving wife, Marlene, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Logan Regional Hospital following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born April 3, 1931 to Fredrick Miles and Lavona Christensen Grover in East Garland, Utah. He attended schools in Garland and graduated from Bear River High School in 1949.
Shortly after graduating, he married Marlene Patterson August 17, 1949 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Except for a short time spent dairy farming in Alaska, Wayne and Marlene raised their family in East Garland. Wayne had a number of occupations including dairy farming, land leveling, and working at Anderson Lumber and Thiokol.
Wayne was respected as a man of honesty and integrity, values he always tried to teach in his home. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in numerous callings including Mmen president, Sunday School superintendent, ward clerk and librarian.
His favorite pass times were woodworking, gardening and caring for his animals, especially his dog Mandy and his ponies. He was a very talented carpenter and often made special treasures for his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed taking his sons to Alaska.
Marlene, his wife of 60 years, passed away September 30, 2009. Three years later Wayne found joy again and married Eulalia Mercedes Casias Madsen October 6, 2012 in East Garland. Mercy and her family have been a caring and loving support for him.
Wayne is survived by his aunt, Hazel Riser of East Garland; his siblings, Flo (Dewain) Loveland of Willard, Marie Korth of Providence and Steve (Barbara) Grover of East Garland; a sister-in-law, Rose Mary Grover of Chula Vista, CA; his children Sheri Lynn (Leon) Lemon of Mendon, Randy (Shelley) Grover of Mendon, Dar (Susan) Burnett of Riverside; Robert (Claudia) Grover of Twin Falls, ID; Scott (DeNiece) Grover of East Garland; Debbi Anne Wood of East Garland; Brad (Gale) Grover of Riverside; 39 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren; his wife, Mercy of East Garland and her children Nancy (Kelly) Pierce of East Garland, David (Bobbie) Madsen of Farr West, Mark (Rebecca) Madsen of West Valley City, Melanie (Tony) Palmer of Garland, Kirk Madsen of Brigham City and Christine Vigil (Doug) Cottam; her 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marlene, brother, Bud F Grover, son Buddie Lee Grover and brother-in-law, Kelly Korth.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 29, at noon at the East Garland Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the East Garland Ward building (4375 W 15600 N) prior to the services from 10:00 to11:30 a.m.
