Wendell Burgess

October 13, 1928 — May 17, 2014


Wendell Reed Burgess, 85, A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and
great grandfather passed away on Saturday May 17, 2014. Wendell was
born on October 13, 1928 to Benjamin Franklin and Etta Louise Holdaway
Burgess in Tremonton, Utah. Wendell grew up and resided in Tremonton
most of his life.
Wendell attended McKinley School and Bear River High School.
Wendell married Erladene Ashby on April 16, 1958 in the Logan Temple.
Wendell worked for J.G. Burgess Plumbing, Ewer Plumbing,
Wangsguard Plumbing and was a journeyman plumber. He decided to get
his contractors license and started his own business "Burgess Plumbing" in
1972.
Wendell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was assistant scoutmaster, served in the High Priest Quorum and was a faithful home teacher.
Wendell and Erladene celebrated 56 wedding anniversaries together.
Wendell was known for always laughing and looking for the bright side of
life. Wendell's greatest love was being with his family and doing things
with them. He water-skied with them and Oh how he loved to go fishing and
catching those fish. He loved camping, sitting around the campfire and
enjoying the great outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Erladene, two sons Ronald and Carl, one daughter Leisa (Todd) Marshall nine grandchildren Brandon, Marsha, Steven, Tad, Caylee, Wade, Cole, Chad and Sadie and 11 great grandchildren.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Melba one
brother Wayne and his grandparents.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Russell N. Hirst.
Funeral Services will be held Friday May 23rd, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the
Tremonton South Stake Center 1150 S. Tremont St. A viewing will be held
Thursday May 22nd, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.) and at the Stake Center from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services.
Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
