Wilma “Billie” Kroksh Anderson, 86, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday May 10, 2015.
Billie was born on July 3, 1928 in Elwood, Utah the second of four daughters born to William Daniel & Grace Thompson Kroksh. Billie was a lifelong resident of the Bear River Valley. She attended Elwood Elementary School and graduated from Bear River High School. She married the love of her life, Frank LaVere Anderson, on February 17, 1947 in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on September 29, 1964. Frank passed away on August 9, 1996.
Billie worked at Thiokol where she received many awards for superior performance. She retired from Thiokol in 1993. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many callings. She served two LDS missions: first to the Family and Church History Mission in Salt Lake City and her second mission was the Chicago, Illinois North Mission. She also served as councilwoman on the Elwood Town Board where she worked on projects including improvements to Hansen Park and the Elwood Cemetery.
Billie especially enjoyed handwork of all kinds. She also enjoyed painting with water colors, singing, dancing, puzzles and life on the farm. She loved Genealogy and wrote several family histories. She also co-authored The History of Elwood Town.
Surviving family members include Risee Madsen (Richard ‘Dick”-deceased), Lynne Baty (James) and Craig LaVere Anderson (Mary Louise) plus seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by a sister, Vicky Chadaz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents, Bill & Grace Kroksh; two sisters, LeNee Goring & Sharon Poppleton. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Richard Madsen.
Funeral services for Billie will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, UT). There will be a viewing held at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home on Thursday evening May 14, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday from 10:00- 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place in the Bear River City Cemetery.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Maple Springs Assisted Living Center in Brigham City, Utah and the many caring friends that she made there. Also a special thanks to AFI Hospice Care especially to Wendy & Brenda. The family also appreciates the kindness extended from the Elwood Second Ward.
